Abstract: The general objective of this research is to develop theoretically sound computational intelligence techniques for nonlinear modeling of data, and methodologies for applying them in the domain of educational data.

Keywords: Probabilistic modeling, Bayesian networks, stochastic complexity, quantitative data analysis, modeling in education

Timetable: 1.1.1997 - 31.12.1999. The research project has ended and the final report is given.

Researchers: Tirri, Henry; Ruohotie, Pekka; Myllymäki, Petri; Silander, Tomi; Nokelainen, Petri;

Other co-coperation organizations: Research Centre for Vocational Education, University of Tampere, Finland

Software: One of the objectives of the project is to provide software that implements various Bayesian and information-theoretic methods for quantitative data analysis in education. The software is distributed free of charge for research and teaching purposes only.
